Menorca is the second largest and most northerly of the Balearic Islands and is situated in the Mediterranean, off the coast of Spain. It is a delightful destination and offers many beautiful and unspoilt beaches, fantastic landscapes and a truly relaxing and leisurely pace of life. For the more adventurous there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy many outdoor sports and activities including scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing, water-skiing, horse riding, golf, bowling and walking with lots of caves and historial sites to explore.
Menorca has around 120 beaches which range from long stretches of golden sand to tiny, secluded beaches which can be hidden away and only accessible by foot - ideal if you crave complete privacy. The larger and more easily accessible beaches are generally well-served by restaurants, bars and shops and perfect for enjoying a leisurely day by the sea. The island is only 48 kilometres long and 19 kilometres wide, which makes visiting most parts of the island very easy. There are good bus services across the island and hire cars are available at reasonable rates.
With an average of 315 days of sunshine a year, Menorca boasts a truly Mediterranean climate. Average temperatures during the high season are around 30º though this often rises in the middle of August. The "holiday season" in Menorca is generally from 1st May to 31st October, with the wettest months being between October and March.
