For those looking for a beach-based, friendly family holiday in Menorca, Son Bou
could be the ideal choice. Situated halfway along the south coast, Son Bou has the
longest, and some say the best, sandy beach in Menorca. There are plenty of fun
and water sports activities to sample and the gently shelving, fine sand that leads
to clear water makes it ideal for children. The area can, though, be subject to
strong currents so care should always be taken.
Backed by sand dunes and freshwater marshes, the 2 mile long beach at Son Bou has
plenty of space for everyone and offers opportunities for windsurfing, water & jet
skiing, diving or just relaxing in one of the several beach side bars. A car park
close to the beach makes for easy access and the area is regularly patrolled by lifeguards.
One of Menorca's most important prehistoric settlements at Torre d'en Gaumes is only three miles away, while the remains of a 5th century Paleo Christian basillica can be seen on the beach itself to the east side of the resort.
Located only 12 miles from the airport, and roughly mid-way between Mahon and Ciutadella, Son Bou is the perfect destination to discover the many delights a holiday to Menorca offers.
